Houston - The 2013 NFL regular season is finally over for the Houston Texans and the team that many thought would challenge for the top spot in the AFC, instead lost their last 14 games and now officially have the top pick in the 2014 Draft.
Houston was so bad this season, management fired head coach Gary Kubiak, but despite all the problems this team had this season, they still have a solid group of players on defense and some play makers on offense. The biggest needs for the team entering the off-season is offensive line, inside linebacker, and a future quarterback that can handle pressure and step up when needed. Both Walterfootball and Bleacher Report have the front office taking Louisville quarterback teddy Bridgewater with the top pick. Despite a slim frame, the Cardinals signal caller is a legitimate top-5 selection and possibly the player that can help this team reach the next level. While a quarterback is needed, finding help on the offensive line is a top priority. North Carolina tackle James Hurst would help in the second round, because no matter who plays behind center next season, if they don't have time to throw, this team will struggle to move the ball again in 2014. Linebacker is also a need and in the third round they should find some decent help. The latest NFL mock drafts have Yawin Smallwood of U.Conn or Shane Skov of Stanford as the top prospects available. Houston has the talent to make a run at the playoffs next season and if these youngsters are taken, they will play a big role in how successful this team becomes.
