No maybe about it, Canadian pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen got the call - the call to star on Broadway. The 28-year-old will step into the role of Cinderella on Feb. 4 in 'Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella'. The show is entering its second season.
The 'Call Me Maybe' hitmaker has appeared in musicals before - in school. This will be her professional stage debut but the singer from Mission, B.C., has had her eye on the stage for a long time. After completing high-school diploma she studied acting, singing and dancing in Victoria, B..C. at the Canadian College of Performing Arts. “My favorite part of the school year,” Jepsen told media, “was our trip to New York, where we met Broadway performers and toured the theaters.” She is signed to a limited 12-week engagement at New York’s Broadway Theatre before returning to the concert stage. Did she ever think, when visiting Broadway as a student, that she'd take on the role of Cinderella there? “I’ve always been one to believe in the impossible," she said. "So I relate to her character completely.”
