The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has vowed to 'crush' Syrian rebel groups that have been involved in recent clashes with the Al-Qaeda affiliated group in the country.
In an audio message, the group's spokesman Abu Mohammed al-Adnani vowed the group would retaliate and fight back against rebel groups that have turned their guns against the ISIS. Adnani warned that the ISIS would "crush them (the rebels) totally and kill the conspiracy at birth", the spokesman also said that this would serve as a warning to any other groups that may try to rise against the group. Infighting between Syrian rebels and the ISIS over the past few days has occurred in most of northern Syria, with over 250 fighters from both sides killed in the fighting. Meanwhile Al-Qaeda's second affiliate in the country, the Nusra Front, has also released an audio message calling for an end to the fighting. The Front's leader, Abu Mohamed al-Jolani, laid the blame for clashes on the ISIS, accusing the group's 'failed' policies for leading to the recent bout of fighting. Fighters from the Nusra Front have also been engaged in some clashes with the ISIS in recent days, while also acting as mediators between the ISIS and other rebel groups in other areas.
