Los Angeles - The LA Lakers are suffering through a miserable 2013-14 NBA season, but changes will happen over the summer as General Manager Mitch Kupchak looks to get the franchise back on track.
Despite having a first round pick in this years draft, Kupchak will need to add some free agent talent as the depth on the squad is the worst in years. One area of concern is point guard as the team is just too old at the position to compete with the better teams in the league. Sports Illustrated has reported that the LA Lakers could make a big move after the year is over to acquire Eric Bledsoe, Bledsoe is sitting out the rest of this year with an injury, but his scoring abilities, along with his age and ball handling skills make him a perfect fit for Mike D'Antoni's system and a player they can build around after Kobe Bryant calls it quits. The 24 year-old was having a career season with the Phoenix Suns, averaging 18 points, four rebounds, and nearly six assists per game. Those kind of numbers are needed in Los Angeles and Ryan Ward has reported that the Lakers could actually over pay to sign Bledsoe after this season, giving them a young point guard and taking a quality player away from a division rival.
