Columbus - A ten year old boy in Ohio was recently suspended after he shaped his finger like a gun, which was apparently a violation of his school's strict zero tolerance weapons policy.
No more Cops and Robbers or Cowboys and Indians on the playground, kids. According to Devonshire Alternative Elementary School in Columbus, Ohio anyone who even pretends to have a gun is in violation of school policy. Not only was ten year old Nathan Entingh suspended for three days after harmlessly shaping his finger like a gun but he was threatened with a much longer, perhaps even permanent suspension if it happens again. According to CNN, the reasoning for the suspension is being described by the school as a "level 2 look-alike firearm." This certainly isn't the first case of a controversial "zero-tolerance weapons policy" in action. Last year, an interrogation over a toy cap gun led a five year old Maryland boy to wet himself. He was suspended but his suspension was eventually reversed after his parents hired a lawyer and fought the school system. In a bizarre scenario, students were offered counseling last year in case they were 'traumatized' by an incident involving a strawberry toaster pastry being shaped into a gun! Nathan Entingh's father mentioned that none of his five children have ever gotten in trouble at school until now.
