London - Next month there is a free lecture on the subject of war brides at the British Library. Entry is free but seating is limited.

The lecture - advertised as a talk - is War Brides: Reaching For New Lives, and will be delivered by not one but five speakers, four of them each with a personal interest in this field. Two of those speaking have co-authored a book on the subject, GI Brides, which is not simply a Sunday Times bestseller, it has its own website. This is a well researched subject, and although this talk relates to World War Two, there were war brides of World War One, who are not quite so well documented. And perhaps the subject of a future book? The current lecture/talk will be held on the 1st floor in The British Library Centre For Conservation on March 3 from 6pm to 7.30pm. Seats can be reserved by contacting Katy Pettit: k.pettit@uel.ac.uk
