Edmonton - Edmonton has seen a boom of farmers' markets in recent years, but one of the most established ones remains one of the most popular.
The Old Strathcona Farmers' Market began in 1983 and is located in the old bus barns located at 83 Avenue and 103 Street, just a block north of Whyte Avenue. Being located indoors allows the market to be open year round. Every week sees approximately 130 vendors selling everything from fresh produce and organic meat to crafts, honey, flowers, and jewellery. Customers can also get a cup of coffee or meal in the concession area. Buskers entertain the crowds, and children can enjoy getting a balloon creation or their faces painted. Everything is locally produced or hand made. It is very common to see people doing their weekly grocery shopping here. The market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is free parking.
