On March 7, boxing fans from around the world will see on the big screen Manny Pacquiao's life story in a documentary when it premieres at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas, USA.
The state of Texas where the film premiere will take place is particularly significant to Pacquiao because it was in this US state where he won his eighth title in as many weight classes against Antonio Margarito for the WBC Junior middleweight title. "Manny," the film's title is directed by Academy Award-winner Leon Gast and Ryan Moore, a Filipino-American filmmaker, who captured Pacquiao's fights as well as his private moments on film during the last four years. “You can expect to see a side of Manny you've never seen. We've been filming for four years now so we've followed Manny everywhere, so you’ll definitely get an inside look into Manny’s life,” said Moore in an interview over Philippine prime time news program, TV Patrol. "I am happy to have given inspirations to all the people and fans." Pacquiao added. The film chronicles Pacquiao's childhood and his 20-year professional boxing career including his rising political career. "Manny" is narrated by Liam Neeson, an academy award nominee with original music by Lorne Balfe and songs by Yardnoise with Chad Hugo. Read more.
