Oakland - Oakland Raiders fans will finally see the team with some picks in the 2014 NFL Draft. After years of bad trades and signing washed up players, General Manager Reggie McKenzie is getting this team back on track.
This is a big off-season for the Silver and Black and it all gets started with the Draft. With two of the first 36 selections, McKenzie can finally add the players he believes can lead this team into the future and bring back a winning attitude in Northern California. With the fifth overall selection in round one, the latest mocks have a wide receiver as the best option and Sammy Watkins of Clemson as the player to help young quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Watkins is a big time play maker and the type of player needed to turn the offense into a more consistent unit, but if Mckenzie goes searching for another quarterback, look for Johnny Manziel to become the pick in round one. Defensive line is also a priority this off-season and the latest from Walterfootball has the Oakland Raiders taking Aaron Donald of Pitt. After a strong showing during the year and great workouts at the Senior Bowl, Donald could give the defense the pass rusher they need. Depending on what direction the team goes, the third round has several different options, including a quarterback. Tajh Boyd has first round talent, but fifth round size and that has seen the Clemson signal caller drop down draft boards over the last two months, but he has a terrific arm and the mobility needed from a small player to make a difference and he could give Pryor a run for his money for the starting job in 2014.
